What Do I Need to Know About Student Employment?
Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply for Student job openings at the University Libraries and Center for Creative Photography (CCP). While some open positions will be posted on the UA Career Services website under Wildcat Joblink, other unposted positions are often available. The Libraries' front desks accept applications from individuals interested in general student employment.
Eligibility:
- Students must be currently enrolled with the primary goal of achieving a degree.
- UA, ASU, NAU or Pima College students are also eligible to be student employees.
- During the fall and spring semesters, students must be enrolled for one or more units and continue to be enrolled for said units in order to be eligible for continued employment in a student position.
- For summer or winter session employment, students must be enrolled either the previous session or the current session.
- During summer or winter sessions, if the student is not currently enrolled at the time of hire, then they must have attended the previous semester, been eligible for student employment, and be pre-registered for the following semester to be eligible.
- Students new to the UA or ineligible for the previous semester must be attending classes at the time of hire in order to be employed in a student position.
Application Instructions:
- Print out the UAL Student Employee Application Form (a 3-page application form in pdf); (access requires Adobe Acrobat reader).
- Fill out all of the requested information; staple the pages together.
- If you are responding to a posting, proceed to apply as directed. If no posting is known or for other open positions, submit your application to the Main or Science-Engineering Libraries' front desk (in the Circulation area located on the main floor).
- A resume and letter of interest may be advised if you want to highlight specific experience or skills (such as clerical or software skills), or have a special interest or prefer a certain type of position (such as clerical, IT, or if you are willing to do just about anything).
- You are advised to note the number of hours of work per week you are seeking.
- Students are disqualified from applying for Regular or Temporary positions with the University Libraries.
Graduate Assistantships
Eligibility:
- Graduate Assistants must maintain (or have an admitting) GPA of 3.0 or higher and be enrolled (a minimum of six units) in a graduate degree program at the University of Arizona.
- The Libraries will not hire Graduate Assistants if they already have or will have other (concurrent) UA department employment. Graduate Assistants are expected to consult with their supervisors prior to accepting other concurrent campus or outside employment as this may interfere with the ability to effectively carry out duties.
Application Instructions:
- Graduate Assistant openings are usually posted on the Wildcat Joblink.
- Follow instructions on how to apply listed within the posting.
Open GA Positions:
None at this time. Potential Next Hiring Period will be May 2012 for summer.
