Code of Conduct
Our Code of Conduct outlines actions that users of the UA Libraries should note and/or avoid regarding behavior, access, use of their ID, access to and use of library computers and use of library collections and facilities.

Cell Phone Use in the Libraries
Cell phone use is appropriate in some areas of the Libraries and not in others.
- You may use your cell phone on Floors 1, 2 and 3 of the Main Library, and Floors 2, 3 and 4 of the Science-Engineering Library, including the Information Commons areas.
- Main Library 4th & 5th Floors and Science-Engineering 1st and 5th Floors are "quiet study" floors; signs are posted. Cell phone use on these floors is prohibited in study areas. Making or answering cell phone calls should be done in the elevator lobbies, not in a study area.
- Even where cell phone use is permitted, we expect cell phone users to be respectful of others around them. If your connection is bad, don't shout. Move to where the connection is better. If you've got a loud ring, turn it down or switch to vibrate.
- If a customer or group isn't following this rule you may point it out to them. If you are not comfortable doing so, please go to the Help Desk to report it.
Presentation Practice Rooms
Quiet Study Areas in the Libraries
The following areas are designated quiet study areas:
Main Library - 4th & 5th Floors
Science-Engineering Library - 1st & 5th Floors
In these areas, you should:
- Limit conversation
- Speak quietly
- Turn cell phones & beepers to vibrate
- Use cell phones ONLY in elevator lobbies - see cell phone policy above
Signs are posted. If a customer or group isn't following this rule you may point it out to them. If you are not comfortable doing so, please go to the Help Desk to report it. Be sure to give a specific location and descriptive information about the noisy party.
While other areas in the Libraries may not be designated as quiet spaces, customers should still be respectful of others who are trying to use the facility.
