BizMiner is a comprehensive business database that contains many resources to assist you in your analysis and financial reporting.

This tutorial will present several basic features of BizMiner to assist you in locating company information and generating relevant reports.

On the right side of the screen you should see the BizMiner search interface.  (You can always access this database through d2L or from the UA Libraries homepage.)

Take a look at the homepage and the top blue menu bar. It offers six headings and five pull down menus:

  • Industry Search

Searching with NAICS Codes

You can identify software publishers in the Phoenix metro area by searching with NAICS Codes. 

Your Turn:

  • Click
  • Search the NAICS Code 511210.
  • Click the first blue Show Industry Reports button

Under Industry Financial Profiles:

  • Select the (5 yr. report) option
  • Choose the Phoenix, AZ area from the drop-down menu
  • When the option becomes available, select $5m - 24.99m from the sales class drop-down menu (this menu may take a few moments to load)
  • Click Access Now

  • Review the report by selecting HTML. This will open in a new tab or window. Switch back to this tab to continue the tutorial.
  • Note the Contents subheadings that divides your report into different areas.  
  • Scan the report, make sure to look all the way to the bottom.
