Setting up a Preferred Search

Open http://sabio.library.arizona.edu/search~S0/X in another browser window to work through this tutorial side by side.

What is a preferred search?

A preferred search is a way for you to save a search that you have made in our catalog and a way for you to track when new materials are added to our collection.

To set up a preferred search, select My Account on the upper right side of your screen.

Log in with your NetID and Password.

now select Search the Catalog from the links displayed in your record.

What can I place a preferred search on?

You can set up a preferred search to be notified when material arrives that matches a subject you are interested in.

You can also set up a preferred search to be notified when a specific title arrives.

The process works the same for both.

Let's set up a preferred search for a specific title.

Select Title from the drop down menu next to the search box and enter the title you are interested in. Then select the Submit button.

To save this search, click the Save as Preferred Search button near the top of the page.

How can I view my prefered Searches?

You can now go back to your account by selecting the My Account link in the upper right corner of your screen.

Select the Preferred Searches link in your record.  You will see a list of the searches you have saved.

You may opt to receive an email when these materials arrive by selecting the radio button next to each search and then clicking Update List

You may remove any of these preferred searches by selecting the radio button next to each search and then clicking Update List

How will I know when my item arrives?

When the Library receives new materials matching your search criteria, you will be notified by email that the material is expected to be in the Library and available for checkout within approximately 10 days.

If you have any problems locating material, please check with the staff at any Information Desk or the Information Commons Reference desk located at the Main Library.

Please enter your name and email address to retrieve a copy of your completed quiz.

You can enter multiple email addresses separated by commas. If you are doing this for a class, you may need to enter your instructor's email address also.
