To set up a preferred search you will need to first log-in to your account, then create a search in the Library Catalog.
Let's set up a preferred search for a specific book that you are waiting to arrive in the library.
Using the drop down menu in the right corner of your screen. Select Title from the list of options

When the Library receives new materials matching your search criteria, you will be notified by email that the material is expected to be in the Library and available for checkout within approximately 10 days.
