Call for Presentations & Poster Sessions 
The University of Arizona Library invites you to submit an abstract for a presentation or poster session for Living the Future II to be held April 21 - 24, 1998 in Tucson. Living the Future II is a follow-up to the 1996 Living the Future conference where over 150 participants from the United States and other countries learned of Arizona’s experience with organizational change. Topics included were: process improvement, team-based organizations, transforming organizational culture, changing roles, restructuring, becoming a learning organization, valuing diversity, needs assessment, and customer satisfaction. 

This second conference promises to be an exciting forum in which information providers from all types of learning organizations can present their vision and experiences in preparing for the future, and share innovative changes for success in their institutions. 

Areas of focus for Living the Future II include: 

Partnerships: Within the organization; Outside the organization. 

Information Literacy: Organizational changes and challenges; Structuring for new learning and teaching strategies; Developing learning communities. 

New Services and Their Impact on Organizations: Customer focus; Performance measures; Needs assessment; Strategies and planning. 

Human Resources Issues: Balancing health and work; Diversity; Team and staff patterns. 

Organizational Changes:Leadership/management; Becoming a learning organization; Leading change; Physical Space; Organizational structure; Process improvement; Team concepts.

2) Complete the program application form, available via the Web at http://www.library.arizona.edu/conferences/ltf/1998/callform.htm , including an abstract (300-word minimum) describing the focus of your presentation or summarizing its main points.

Selection Criteria: 

• Illustrate how library and information professionals and staff can support learning organizations in preparing to meet future challenges;
• Envision future services to customers;
• Use a presentation style that is appropriate to the content (be creative!)
• Emphasize successful practice or learning, or that propose new theories or models for organizational growth and development;
• Are well organized, thoughtfully constructed, high-quality presentations.

Presentations must not have been previously presented or published; poster sessions must not have been given elsewhere. Selected presentations, as appropriate to the medium, will be published on the World Wide Web as part of our conference proceedings; authors must grant first publication rights.
