from Tucson International Airport to the
Sheraton Tucson Hotel and Suites, 5151 E. Grant

TAXI
There
are several taxi companies operating in the Tucson area.
One way rate from airport to hotel is approximately $25. Pick up a cab right outside of the airport after you pick up your luggage. Usually, you will not have to wait for a taxi; many are lined up waiting
for potential fares.

SHUTTLE
Arizona
Stagecoach is the local shuttle service which will take you directly
to your hotel.
They are
located on the ground floor of the airport between Hertz and Dollar
rent-a-car. Their phone number is 520-889-1000 if you wish to
call ahead. Rates quoted below are to the conference hotel, the Sheraton
Tucson Hotel and Suites; other destinations may be different rates.
Rates:
$23.00
one-way per person
$39.00 prepaid round-trip per person
There's
also a "couples" rate that they will apply to any two people
traveling at the same time to the same destination; ask for the couples
rate:
$29.00 one-way for TWO people
$51.00 round trip for TWO people
Shuttles
from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport:
You can take
the Tucson-Phoenix Shuttle (approximately $40 roundtrip; call
ahead for reservations: 1-888-584-6116 outside Tucson; 520-584-0000
in Tucson). They have prearranged drop-off locations; you will then
need to take a taxi to your hotel. For an additional fee, most shuttles
will take you directly to your specific destination.

DRIVING:
from Tucson International Airport
There
are several different routes to choose from when driving from the airport
to the conference hotel. Here's two:
Option
One - Driving Past The University of Arizona:
When you
pick up your rental car, ask the rental agent to give you a city street
map, just in case you get lost.
Drive
out of the airport (there's only one exit).
As you
exit out of the airport there is a stop light. This is Valencia
Road.
Cross
Valencia and continue to go straight; you will be driving on
Tucson Blvd.
Stay
on this street, in the Right Lane.
After
you cross Benson Highway, look for green and white signs on the
right side of the road that read CITY CENTER. Unfortunately,
these signs are not all that big.
Turn
right on Kino Blvd. CITY
CENTER signs will indicate this as your turn.
Continue
to follow Kino.
Kino
changes its name to Campbell as you get to the center of the
city, but you do not need to make any turns yet.
You will
cross some of the bigger streets in Tucson including Broadway
and Speedway.
After
you cross 6th Street you will pass The
University of Arizona, on your left, before you get
to Speedway.
Cross
Speedway and keep going. Stay in the center lane, which
will turn into the right lane after the intersection at Elm
Street.
The next
major intersection after Elm is Grant Road.
Turn
right on Grant and keep driving. You are now driving east.
There
are all kinds of shops and businesses on Grant.
Expect
a good amount of traffic, with several stop lights along the way
Tucson Blvd, Alvernon, Columbus, then Swan.
NOTE:
You cannot make a left turn while on Grant before
Swan between 7 am - 9 am and 4 pm - 6 pm! This shouldn't
be a problem if you follow these instructions.
Get into
the left lane before you cross Swan.
After
you cross Swan, look for the Sheraton
Tucson Hotel and Suites on the left or north side.
The address
is 5151 East Grant.
If you
come to Craycroft you have passed the hotel and can make a U-turn
and come back.

Option
Two - the straight way:
When you
pick up your rental car, ask the rental agent to give you a city street
map, just in case you get lost.
Drive
out of the airport (there's only one exit).
Get in
the right lane.
As you
exit out of the airport there is a stop light. This is Valencia
Road.
Turn
right on Valencia.
Get over
into the left lane.
You will
cross Country Club. The next light is Palo Verde Blvd.
Turn
left on Palo Verde.
Continue
to follow Palo Verde.
After
coming down the ramp, Palo Verde becomes Alvernon Way.
You will
cross some of the bigger streets in Tucson including 22nd Street,
Broadway and Speedway.
After
crossing Speedway get into the
right lane
and drive about a mile before coming to Grant Road.
Turn
right on
Grant.
Now you are heading east.
Get over
into the left lane.
You will
cross the intersection at Columbus . The next intersection
is Swan.
NOTE:
You cannot make a left turn while on Grant before
Swan between 7 am - 9 am and 4 pm - 6 pm! This shouldn't
be a problem if you follow these instructions.
Look
for the Sheraton Tucson Hotel and Suites.
The address
is 5151 East Grant Road. If you
come to Craycroft you have passed the hotel and can make a U-turn

PARKING
Parking
is free and plentiful at the conference hotels.

WEATHER
Check back for updates. The weather at this time of year is usually in the 80's and even low 90's (it's a dry heat), in the 60's at night. Bring casual clothes, a swimsuit, tennis racquet, golf clubs and hiking boots! We'll have suggestions for Saturday and Sunday sightseeing adventures.
