Letter informing I.W.W. that members from Butte, Montana are planning to strike. The letter was originally used in the trial of the United States vs. William D. Haywood, et al. This exhibit was part of the deposition of John W. Hughes for the Michael Simmons vs. the El Paso and Southwestern Railroad Company, and used in the State of Arizona vs. Harry Walters through the deposition of Edward Byrn, Jr.

     We I.W.W. members of Butte Mont. have been doing some anti War agitation and the 5th day of June 1917. We tried to hold a meeting and form an anti War parade and several of our members and sympathizers were imprisoned by the authorities and consequenth we have decided to declare Butte under strike condition and help in any form is urgently needed. So send up phample to and speakers if possible. Now is the time to act the sooner the better.
