Yavapai County Jail, Prescott, Arizona


David K. Udall's trial for perjury in the Miles P. Romney land case, began on the morning of August 3, 1885 in Prescott, Arizona. The trial was held on August 3-6, 1885.  On the 6th at 4:30 p.m., the jury brought a verdict of guilty against David K. and he was sentenced to spend 3 years in the Detroit House of Correction, Detroit, Michigan.  At 5:00 p.m. he was placed into a prison cell in Yavapai County Jail.  He remained in this jail until August 29, when he was moved from Prescott, Arizona to Detroit. During his stay in Yavapai jail, David K. kept a journal in a small notebook.  Copies of these pages can be seen by clicking on the page numbers below.
