This image shows the march of the Spaniards through Mexico in 1519. Only one side of the picture is shown, depicting Cortés advancing with Malinche, his interpreter, leading the way. The banner displays the Holy Spirit. The Spanish soldiers are dressed in armor, and the natives are carrying food. There is a black soldier in the middle of the group.
