Stewart Lee Udall served enthusiastically as Arizona's Congressman
for District 2 from 1954-1961 and as Secretary of the Interior from
1961-1969 in the administrations of President John F. Kennedy and
Lyndon B. Johnson. Since his retirement from public service in 1969,
Stewart Udall has mainly devoted his time to writing books and articles
dealing with environmental issues, and practicing law. During the
same period, he represented Native American uranium miners in Arizona,
New Mexico and Utah in their lawsuits against the United States Government.
