Temple Beth Israel San Diego, California The original Temple Beth Israel was San Diego's first synagogue. It was built for $3,500 in 1889 at the northwest corner of Second Avenue and Beech Street. Sold in 1926, it was reacquired by Temple Beth Israel, moved to Old Town's Heritage Park and restored in 1989.
