Finding Newspapers

Locations:
Current paper copies are located in the Main Library, 2nd Floor Current Periodicals/Media/Newspaper area--- a list of titles received is located on the sides of the shelves. Older issues may be available on microform ( Finding Microforms ).
Newspaper Websites (free)
Most of the sites for larger newspapers only include free access to the current issue and sometimes the past week's issues, but many small town papers have free online archives.
Current:
- Abyz News Links - Links to over 16,000 newspapers and other news sources from around the world.
- NewsLink - Links to newspapers in the US and around the world by location or type of paper. Also includes links to TV and radio sites.
Historical:
- Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers (Library of Congress) - This site allows you to search and view newspaper pages from 1880-1922. Currently included are newspapers from Arizona, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Washington. Site also includes information about American newspapers published between 1690-present.
- Newspaper Archive Sources on the Web (Library of Congress) -
Lists both free and pay sites with newspaper archives, including:- Wikipedia: List of online newspaper archives - includes known sites for archives of United States and worldwide newspapers.
- Google News Archive - newspapers for which Google has archived digital page images.

How to Find Newspapers By:
Title - Search the library catalog for newspapers by title by typing the newspaper title in the search box, then click "Search". The record(s) retrieved should indicate whether it is available in print, microfilm and/or online.
Or find just the online newspapers and backfiles available in our databases by searching the titles our E-Journals list .
City - In the library catalog , enter the word "newspapers" in the search box and select "Subject" from the drop-down menu. Then enter the name of the city in the second search box and click "Search".
Language - In the library catalog , enter the word "newspapers" in the search box and select "Subject" from the drop-down menu. Then, in the Language box under "Limit to", use the drop-down menu to select the language and click "Search".
(The two search methods above for City and Language are not precise, so they may retrieve additional materials about newspapers.)
