Citation -- the information that identifies an article, book, chapter, or other information resource. Think of a citation as simply telling your reader all the information they need to find each source you used in your research.

Citations to articles typically include:

  • author
  • title of article
  • title of journal
  • volume number*
  • issue number
  • page numbers
  • date
  • Name of database, if online article
