General Information
Use Business and Company Resource Center to find basic information about the company that produces your "thing" or product such as:
- Is it a public company or private company?
- Is it traded on one of the U.S. stock exchanges such as NYSE, NASDAQ, or OTC?
- What is the address of the company's headquarters?
Consumption of your Thing or Product
Use the following library databases:
- Business and Company Resource Center
- Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe (Business News, World News, or US News)
to find articles on:
- How is the product marketed?
- Where is it consumed?
- How is it consumed?
Most articles in Business and Company Resource Center and Lexis-Nexis are full-text. If you find an article that is not full-text (such as the Wall Street Journal), you'll need to search for the article separately. Go to the Library Catalog and seach by the journal, magazine or newspaper title.
In addition, you may also find product, marketing and product consumption information on the company's website.
Where the Product is Made, Cultivated, or Assembled
Use Thomson Research to find information on where your product is made. First search for your company, then look in the 10K report (U.S. companies), 20F (international companies), or the Annual Report.
Manufacturing, Extraction or Production Methods
Use the following library databases:

- ABI/Inform
- Thomson Research
- Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe (General News or Business News)
to find articles on the manufacturing, extraction or production methods used at the assembly plant.
