Arizona and Local Data -- General

ARIA: Arizona Regional Image Archive -- provides access to image data, such as satellite imagery, DOQQs, DEMs, DRGs for the Sonoran desert region, including the US Southwest and northern Mexico.

Arizona Electronic Atlas -- provides access to boundary, environmental, climate, species richness, water resources & floods, geology, mines & mineral resources, soils, and roads & railroad data in shapefile format.

Pima Association of Governments Regional Data Center-- provides access to spatial data of Pima County for census tracts, census blocks, census designated places, jurisdiction boundaries, major streets, and transportation analysis zones.

Pima County Geographic Data Library -- provides 275 data layers through an FTP server

Southern Arizona Data Services -- provides access to a wide range of geospatial data, you can preview data, view metadata, or download data in .e00 format.

Arizona Department of Education -- provides educational statistics and reports in .pdf and .xls format, including drop-out rates, graduation rates, school report cards, school safety data, SAT and AIMS test results, and more.

Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission -- provides shapefiles of Arizona congressional and legislative redistricting.

Arizona Secretary of State Election Results -- provides the results of the 2008 Elections.

Arizona Department of Commerce - Statewide Economic Study 2002 Data Files -- provides data files (excel) on employment, earnings, and earnings per employee.

Arizona Department of Economic Security -- provides information and statistics regarding current and historic labor market data, such as employment (state and county), unemployment (national, state, Phoenix, Tucson), and wage estimates (state and county), as well as population data, and much more.

Arizona Department of Health Services - Health Status and Vital Statistics -- provides population-level data on patterns and trends regarding the health of Arizonans ranging from prenatal care and pregnancy outcomes to ethnic differences in morbidity and mortality.

Verde River Watershed -- provides data to download for the Verde River watershed.

American Community Survey (U.S. Census Bureau) -- view and download ongoing census survey.

American FactFinder (U.S. Census Bureau) -- view and download 1990 and 2000 census data.

Census TIGER: The Coast to Coast Digital Map Database! (U.S. Census Bureau)
Download the 1990 and 2000 TIGER files in ArcInfo .e00, ArcView shapefiles, or in native format.

Census 2000 TIGER/Line -- download census geography and some data in shapefile format.

National Historical Geographic Information System (NHGIS) -- provides shapefiles and census aggregate data for the U.S. from 1790 to 2000. View data using Social Explorer.

Other United States Data

2002 Census of Agriculture -- download data as .dbf files that can be used with GIS software.

California GAP Analysis Project -- provides access to GAP data by state or by region.

EPA Office of Water's "Basins" -- download data for performing watershed and water quality based studies.

Geography Network (ESRI) -- online resource for finding and sharing geographic content, including maps and data from many of the world's leading providers.

Land Survey Information (U.S. Bureau of Land Management) -- geographic information from the BLM's Geographic Coordinate Data Base (GCDB) representing the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) of the United States.

Landsat Imagery -- Landsat 7 imagery available at no charge from EROS as of September 2008. Landsat 1-5 will be available January 2008. Order through USGS Global Visualization Viewer or Earth Explorer website or . Choose Landsat archive -- L7 SLC-off.

Mohave Desert Ecosystems Program (GIS data clearinghouse)

National Atlas (U.S. Geological Survey) -- provides comprehensive map-like views of the enormous wealth of data collected by the Federal Government, focusing on natural and sociocultural landscapes. The data can be downloaded for use in GIS software in shapefile format.

National Map (U.S. Geological Survey) -- includes data on boundaries, elevation, ortho-imagery, land use, land cover, transportation, geographic names, hydrography, and structures. The maps created can be viewed and printed, and the data can be downloaded.

National Map Seamless Server (U.S. Geological Survey) -- View and download data from US (National Map) and international. Draw box around the area you want to download data. If you box is too large, will get an error message.

National Hydrography Dataset (USGS and EPA)

National Spatial Database of GIS Data -- this data has been gathered in anticipation of a National Archeological Overview. You can preview the data, review the metadata or download the data.

Soil Data Mart -- provides soil surveys in .e00 format from the U.S. Natural Resources Conservation Service.

U.S.G.S. Geographic Data Download -- includes 1:24,000 and 1:250,000 Digital Elevation Model, 30 meter National Elevation Dataset, 1:2,000,000 and 1:100,000 Digital Line Graph, Land Use/Land Cover, National Land Cover Data, and National Hydrography Dataset.

CaSIL: California Spatial Information Library -- California's GIS portal. Data is subdivided by Administrative Divisions, Political Districts, Water Districts, Infrastructure, Cultural Geography and Physical Geography.

Colorado Geographic Information Portal

Inforain -- focuses on the conservation economy in the coastal temperate rain forests of North America. On the Inforain website, you can create maps, view reports and information systems, and download data.

Inside Idaho -- provides access to Idaho data (metadata, preview data, and download):
Basemap, cartographic, census, climate, distrubance, fisheries, hydrologic, land cover, physical, political, remote sensing, and transportation.

Iowa State University Geographic Information Systems -- Iowa county datasets: hydrography, transportation, topography, census, public land survey.

MAGIC: Map And Geographic Information Center GeoData Server (Connecticut and New England) -- census, hydrography, land use/land cover, soil, education, economics, administration, government, labor, voting districts

New Mexico Resource GIS Program -- Includes data and metadata, arranged by topic. Includes both vector and raster, but most is vector data.

San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) -- provides access to GIS layers for the San Diego area.

San Francisco Bay Area Regional Database (BARD) -- provides a convenient way to acquire USGS Digital Data for the San Francisco Bay Area.

Baltic Sea Region GIS, Maps and Statistical Database -- iIncludes interactive map, metadata, and data in Idrisi, ArcInfo, ArcView, and MapInfo formats.

Center for International Earth Science Information Network -- includes Central America Vegetation, China Dimensions, Georeferenced Population Data Sets of Mexico, Gridded Population of the World, LandScan 2000, U.S. Puma Boundary Files, and U.S. TIGER files.

Digital Chart of the World (also available on CD-ROM at the Information Commons Reference CD-ROM cabinet) -- provides ability to download the following data in .e00 format: transportation, hypsography (contour lines), hydrology, land cover, and vegetation.
