How a Librarian can Help Teaching Faculty:
- Order materials to support instruction
- Identify materials that can be used for research assignments
- Teach students how to use the library for research
- Consult with faculty on the development of research assignments
- Identify resources that can be used in the research process
- Make sure the research assignment is supported by the library
- Design aides and guides to assist students in completing their research

History 440/540 - Karen Anderson
The term paper for this course should offer an analysis of one of two major trials from the 1960s:
Librarian Role: Found Trials page, Prepared class to analyze transcripts and find supporting sources.
History 396A - Karen Anderson
Women's International League for Peace and Feedom Project
Developed materials for the web site Women and Social Movements in the U.S. 1600-2000.
Librarian's Role: Introduced class to use of microfilm and reel guide for Women's International League for Peace and Freedom; taught students how to find biogrpahical information and supplementary primary and secondary source information.
Trad 103 - Making of American History. Reeve Huston
Assignment: Student select and find answer to one quesion from a list of 51.
Librarian's Role: Research each question and find primary source material students could use to answer questions; develop teaching web page to aid students in finding primary sources.
Web Tutorials:
Usful for instructing large classes. Best developed if research assignment is targeted.
Citation Writing Tutorial
Self guided tutorial on how to write citations in eaither MLA, APA, or Chicago.
Librarians Role: Develop self-guided tutorial.
INDV 102 Gender & Contemporary Society
Assignment: Find a scholarly article on research project topic.
Librarian Role: Develop class directed exercise to teach students basics of search the catalog and finding materials in the library; develop web tutorial about the differences between popular and scholarly articles - respond to each student about how they did on the tutorial.
