INDV 101 - Language: Library Research Guide

Citations, Plagiarism and Getting Help

How to Format your Citations

You should use the style of the Linguistic Society of America (LSA) to format your minimum of two references. You can find the complete stylesheet at the URL below, but you only need to follow the instructions for referencing and for the presentation of language data and examples.  http://www.lsadc.org/info/pubs-lang-style.cfm

Still confused? Look at an issue of Language, the journal of the LInguistic Society of America, is see examples. Remember that the reference list or bibliography appears at the end of the article!

Avoiding Plagiarism

Understanding plagiarism now will save you a lot of problems later on. The Student Code of Conduct defines plagiarism as follows: "Plagiarism" means representing the words or ideas of another as one's own.
