Articles covering the whole range of social and behavioral sciences.

International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences

Covers broad range of scholarly articles in the social sciences, including biographies of key figures. Completely revises and updates the 1968 edition.

Literature Search

Sociological Abstracts

Sociological Abstracts includes citations and abstracts to articles from an international collection of journal titles as well as abstracts to dissertations, conference proceedings, book reviews, books and book chapters. Subject focus includes sociology, family studies, women's studies, sociolinguistics and related fields.

Social Sciences Citation Index

Index to core journal articles and cited references in the social sciences. Includes some abstracts.

Gender Studies Database

Index with some links to full text which combines Women's Studies International, Men's Studies and sexual diversity studies. Source documents include professional journals, conference papers, books, book chapters, government reports, discussion and working papers and theses and dissertations.

GenderWatch

A full text database of information from journals, magazines, newspapers, newsletters, special reports.

A catalog of records for all type of material cataloged by libraries throughout the world.

Dissertations and Theses - Full Text (ProQuest)

Index of all doctoral dissertations and some master's theses from most North American and many European colleges and universities. Includes full text of many dissertations from 1996 to present.

JSTOR

The JSTOR project seeks to develop online access to the full back files of selected journals.

Google Scholar

Searches scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, pre-prints, abstracts, and technical reports. Content includes a range of publishers and aggregators with whom Google already has standing arrangements.

Citing Your Sources

It is very important to cite your sources of information to acknowledge and give credit to someone else's words or ideas and to allow a reader to consult the sources you used in your research. Here are some resources to assist you:

RefWorks

RefWorks is an online bibliographic management tool to which the UA Library subscribes. It allows you to store and manage your references online and format your bibliography in different citation styles, including the American Sociological Association (ASA) style.
