Theatre Arts 600 - Selected Materials for Research
Searching the Catalog
The University of Arizona Library catalog provides access to our own books, journals, dissertations and media. You may search the catalog by author, keyword, specific title or subject heading. These can be limited by language, year of publication or type of material.
Our catalog also has a number of indexes to journal literature and databases, such as the International Index to the Performing Arts (IIPA) and the MLA Bibliography. These are found in the Search and Find section of the Library web page under "article and database searching".
If you do not know the author or title, and want to look up materials by topic, you can either use the keyword search option or the subject search option. Keyword searching allows you to use your own terminology, but you could end up with information that may not be very useful. These are called "false hits". Subject searching, on the other hand, requires the use of Library of Congress subject headings (LCSH). Using these will generally yield better results. The LCSH volumes can be found in the Information Commons reference collection or in the Fine Arts Library reference collection. The call number for these is: Z695 .L6951
While the UA Library is a major research library, we do not own everything that is available to the researcher. To find books and other materials that we do not own, you can use WorldCat or the Library of Congress catalog to find what you need, and then request materials through our Interlibrary Loan service.
