Country profiles
Europa World Plus is the online version of the Europa World Year Books and the nine volumes Regional Surveys of the World series. This reference sources covers political and economic information in more than 250 countries ans territories. This is a good place to get a big picture of the country in which your artist practised his/her craft or in which a particular genre or movement was developed.
History of Latin America
A selective bibliography of the world's historical literature (journal articles, books, dissertations) excluding U.S. and Canadian history. Covers the historical period from 1450 to present. There is also a separate guide with instructions on how best to use this database.
HAPI - Hispanic American Periodical Index
Contains citations to articles about US-Hispanic and Latin American topics. Articles may be in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish from more than 350 scholarly journals worldwide. Also includes book reviews and drama and film reviews. Use the Thesaurus to find appropriate subject headings or the names of artists.
PRISMA - Publicaciones y Revistas Sociales y Humanísticas
Full-text scholarly journals in the social sciences and humanities for the interdisciplinary academic study of Hispanic and Latin America and the Caribbean Basin. Articles are available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Use the Subject List to find articles on the history of a particular country, or the history of a particular genre in a country or area.
