History and Life Historical Abstracts Tip Sheet
America History & Life indexes journal articles, dissertations, and book reviews about the history of the United States and Canada.
Historical Abstracts indexes journal articles, dissertations, and books covering world history, excluding the United States and Canada, from the period of 1450 to the present.
You may search both America History & Life and Historical Abstracts simultaneoulsly. From the drop down box, choose "World History including US & Canada."
Search Keys:
Keywords (top line). Keywords will search through words in the title, abstract and subject headings. Search both phrases or combine different search concepts using the boolean AND e.g. Napolean and civil law
Subject Terms
A more specific way of searching. You must know the subject terms to use. To find the Subject terms, click the 
and find your correct subject terms.
Document type Can be: article, book, collection, dissertation, book review (American History & Life only)
Language the language you wish to retrieve e.g. English.
Time Period type in the range of years you wish to search. e.g. 1850-1900
You may also limit search to "Articles," "Book Reviews," "Media Reviews," "Collections," and "Dissertations."
Help Features
Hold Cursor over search keys (such as Keyword) and an explanatory box will open. 
From the list of records, you can choose to email that record by either typing in your email address in the appropriate box or tag several records and email as a group. To email Tagged records, click the Export Options Button.
To "expand" the record, and see a summary or abstract, click on the word "record".
