Description: Libraries Celebrate the Chinese New Year: 2007, Year of the Pig

The University of Arizona Library, the Pima County Public Library, and the Tucson Chinese Cultural Center will jointly present activities and performances to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year on February 17, Saturday between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm at Himmel Park Library. The event goal is to promote Chinese cultural awareness, inspire learning about China and Chinese traditions, and provide hands-on experiences that eliminate barriers to understanding other cultures. The first 100 children will receive red lucky envelopes in the Chinese tradition, along with Chinese treats and other free gifts. Door prizes related to Chinese or library themes will be given away at the end of the event.

The highlights of our fun performances and activities include lion dance, story time (both in Chinese and English), face painting, making Chinese lanterns, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese paper cut and more.
