Special Collections at the University Libraries hosts Writings Out of Time: The University of Arizona's Cuneiform Collection, an archaeological exhibit showcasing the Arizona State Museum's extraordinary holdings in Near Eastern antiquities and curated by Beth Alpert Nakhai, professor of Judaic Studies at the Arizona Center for Judaic Studies. The exhibit features some of the world's first artifacts of writing including cuneiform tablets dating from 2100-1800 BCE, engraved cylinder and stamp seals from Iraq and Egypt and a unique stone slab from the palace of the great Assyrian king Ashurbanipal (668-627 BCE) in Nineveh, northern Iraq.
