Library Book Shifting: Relocation of the N-NZ and SB call numbers

Dates: March 4, 2010 - July 15, 2010

Location:   Main Library, Fine Arts Library, Science-Engineering Library

Contact: Carrie Muir

Description:

Because of overcrowding in the fine arts and architecture books sections in the Main and Fine Arts libraries and in order to make room for future additional books, space was found in the Science-Engineering Library to house them. This new home will have the added benefit of consolidating the call numbers in one spot so users can find the same materials in the same place. The books to be consolidated include books with call numbers from N to NZ which are art, art history and some architecture books as well as books with the call number SB which are landscape architecture books. The consolidation will take five months, from March 15th to July 15. During this time, new shelving will be added to the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors of the Science-Engineering Library and the books being moved from the Fine Arts Library, the Center for Creative Photography library and the Main library will be moved to their new home in Science-Engineering.

During the time the books are being moved you can receive help obtaining materials through Document Delivery and Express Retrieval. Our Document Delivery service offers free scanning and electronic delivery of articles and book chapters from items available in our collection. The Express Retrieval service is an item-retrieval and hold service for items available in the Library. When requested, the Libraries will pull a requested item and place it on hold for you to pick up at your convenience. More information about these services is available at: Services A-Z | The University of Arizona University Libraries.

During the shelf building and book moving increased noise is a possibility though the staff will be doing their best to keep disruptions to a minimum. If you have any questions or suggestions for how the Libraries can minimize any disruption to you and your students during this time, please feel free to contact us.
