Trial Database: LandScan Global Population Database
Dates: November 15, 2011 - December 9, 2011
Contact: Chris Kollen
The University Libraries are pleased to offer trial access to LandScan Global Population Database.
LandScan is a global population database that shows geographical distribution of population at one-kilometer resolution over an average 24 hour period. LandScan integrates daytime movements and collective travel habits into a single measure to produce a better representation of where people are located during an average day.
Access is provided through the web application where you can view and analyze the data (best performance in Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome).
If the Libraries subscribe to this database, the full database will include a Web Mapping Service (WMS) and Web Coverage Service (WCS) that is accessed through any GIS software, such as ArcGIS.
This trial does not have access to the WMS or WCS service.
For more information, please visit the trial site here.
NOTE: Access to trial databases is only available on campus.
