Full-Text vs. Citation Only Resources

Listed below are resources containing full-text articles, book chapters, reviews, or other items, as well as resources indexing or listing only citations to articles, book chapters, reviews or other items, with no full-text. The latter requires that you copy the citation and search the UA Library Catalog to determine if we own the cited journal issue or monograph and retrieve the call number and location in order to find the item in the collection. If we do not own the cited item, you may request the item through InterLibrary Loan. This service is free for University-affiliated customers.

Academic Search Complete

Arts & Humanities Citation Index (online)
A citation only database and index to core journal articles through cited works in the fine arts and humanities, including archaeology, art, Asian studies, classics, dance, film, folklore, history, language and literature, linguistics, music, religion, and theater. The library's print copy covers the gap in coverage before the online system. 1990-present.

ATLA Religion Database
Full-text database covering literature of all traditions, with special strength in Judaism and Christianity. Coverage: 1949 to present.

Biblical Archaeological Society Online Archive
A free, full-text, online database created by the Society for its books and back issues of Biblical Archaeology Review, Bible Review, and Archaeology Odyssey. Archive only, up to previous two years.

Catholic Periodical & Literature Index - AI3 C32 Main Ref. (latest two years; earlier years in Main Stacks)
An index to selected Catholic books and periodicals. Coverage: 1967 to date.

Humanities Abstracts
A database index of the humanities literature, with abstracts and some full-text of articles in archaeology, art, classical studies, folklore, history, journalism, language and literature, linguistics, performing arts, political criticism, philosophy, and religion. 1984-present.

Index Islamicus and Quarterly Index Islamicus
Ask at Information Commons Desk for CD-ROM. (Print equivalent available at Z7835 M6 L6 and Z7835 M6 L62 Main Ref). 
The index is continued by its supplement, the Quarterly Index Islamicus. An index to articles in periodicals and collected works and citations in books. Coverage: 1906 to date.

InfoTrac OneFile
This is an interdisciplinary index to journals in humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. Ingenta
A full-text database of current article information taken from more than 17,000 multidisciplinary journals. Contains brief descriptive information. Fall 1988-present.

JSTOR
The JSTOR (Journal STORage) database provides access to the full-text back files of selected multidisciplinary journals. The database contains a digitized image of every page and is searchable by every word. The UA Library subscribes to the Arts & Sciences I, Arts & Sciences II, Business, Ecology & Botany, General Science Collections and Language & Literature Collection.  (One of our most popular databases...and a great place to start most searches!)

Religious and Theological Abstracts - Z7753 R3 Main Ref.
Indexes journals in various languages and gives English language abstracts. Coverage: 1958 to date.

Social Sciences Citation Index (online)
A citation only database and index to core journal articles through cited works in the social sciences, including religion.  1956 to date.

Sociological Abstracts
Emphasizes the sociological aspects of religion and religious studies. Indexes many religious and theological studies. The library's print copy covers the gap in coverage before the online system. 1973 to date.
