Technical Reports at the University Arizona Library

The University of Arizona houses a large selection of technical reports in a variety of formats: microform, print and online text. The microform collection is located on the groundfloor in the Current Periodicals and Microform Room (CPMR) of the Science and Engineering Library.

On the southside of the Current Periodicals and Microform Room there are a number of cabinets that hold various technical reports in the microform format. Among the agencies you will find there are.

AEC (Atomic Energy Commission, 1946-1974)

Atomic Energy Commission reports are found on microfiche and filed under their report number.The Science and Engineering Library also carries printed material from the AEC and can be found under the call no. Y3.At7:. These are located on 5th floor-South of the Science and Engineering Library.

ERDA (Energy Research and Development Administration, 1974-1977)

This is an example of an agency where there are only print holdings. ERDA reports are filled by SuDoc nos. beginning with ER and are located on the 5th floor -South of the Science and Engineering Library.

DOE (Department of Energy, 1977-)

Department of Energy reports are filled by report number and are located in the Science and Engineering Current Periodical Room. There are also some printed material from the DOE and they are filed under their SuDoc nos.. The printed materials will be found on the 3rd floor of the Main Library. DOE reports from 1994 to present are available online through the DOE Information Bridge.

NACA (1915-1958) & NASA (1958-)

NACA and NASA reports are located in the same cabinet in the Science and Engineering Library's Current Periodicals Room. NACA reports can also be found online full-text starting from 1917. There was a change in numbering in the NASA reports. Prior to 1997 reports were filed under N and then the rest of the accession no. From 1997 to present the accessing number will begin with NAS, however some maybe filed under their SuDoc numbers. Print material are also filed by SuDoc nos. and are located on the 5th floor -South of the Science and Engineering Library.

NTIS (National Technical Information Service, 1952-)

National Technical Information Service reports filled by NTIS accession numbers and are located in the NTIS cabinets in the Science and Engineering Library's Current Periodical Room.

NUREG (Nuclear Regulatory Commission, 1974-)

Nuclear Regulatory Reports are on microfiche and are filed by NTIS accession numbers and can be found in the Current Periodicals Room in the Science and Engineering Library. Print material from NUREG are filed by SuDoc nos. Y3.N88: and can be located on the 5th floor-South of the Science and Engineering Library.

In addition to these governmental agencies you may also find technical reports from various private organizations and societies. A sample of this type can be located in the Current Periodical and Microform Room: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

The University of Arizona also has a print collection from various agencies and they may be searched by using the University of Arizona's library catalog.
