Recalls and Holds
Recalls
Who may recall:
- This service is only available to UA faculty, staff and students who have a valid CatCard and a library account in good standing.
What can be recalled:
- Any book, DVD, or videotape can be recalled, but note that there are exceptions (such as bound journals, music CDs, etc.).
How to recall:
- If you cannot locate a circulating item in the stacks, please check our online catalog to see if the item is checked-out. If the item is checked-out, you may recall the item.
- If you find that an item is checked-out, from its online record simply click on the
tab found at the bottom and top of the page.
- If you have recalled an item, an e-mail or letter will be sent notifying you when it is available.
- Recalled items will be held on the open hold shelves by call number:
- Main Library: across from the main entrance (2nd floor) of the Main Library, Hours
- Science-Engineering Library: behind the Information Desk near the entrance to the Reference/Current Periodicals Room, Hours
- Fine Arts Library: across from the Information Desk. (Note: This includes holds for CCP Library materials as well.) Hours
Policies:
- Library material may be recalled from any borrower at any time.
- If you have an item which has been recalled, you will receive an e-mail or letter indicating that the item has been recalled and needs to be returned.
- Recalled items are due within 10 days of the date the recall is placed.
- Materials requested to be placed on Course Reserves are subject to immediate recall.
- Items will be held for seven days after being returned. If an item has additional holds, it can only be checked-out for seven days.
- Failure to return recalled materials by the new due date indicated on the recall notice will result in a suspension of borrowing privileges and late fees.
- Since fees will accrue on recalled items even if you are out of town, it is strongly recommended that you return all library items before leaving.
