Apply for a Long-Term Study Room

Long-Term Study Room applicants must be currently enrolled or employed. Eligibility will be verified.

Terms of Use

Room assignments are made for one calendar year and are based on library research needs of faculty and currently enrolled PhD candidates who have passed their comprehensive examinations. While non-renewable, you may reapply.

You may be asked to share a room. As often as possible, the Libraries will work to match applicants from the same department in one room. Once assigned, room changes will not be accommodated except for extenuating circumstances and only if a vacant room is available.

The Libraries reserve the right to reassign unused rooms. We will notify you by email and you will have one month to respond before the room is reassigned.

One month prior to your expiration date, we will notify you by university email. Remove all belongings from the room by the expiration date. Items left in the room will be removed and the door code changed to accommodate other students and faculty.

The Libraries and University assume no responsibility for materials left in the room. We advise that you do not leave valuable items inside the room.

Library materials left in the room must be checked out to you. You may not keep non-circulating or "Library Use Only" materials in the room. We will check the room periodically; if we find any library materials not checked out, we will remove them and your long-term study room privileges may be revoked.

Covering the door window is not permitted. We must be able to visually check each room when the library closes. Rooms are only available for use during open hours.

Room assignments are confidential. We will not direct others to your room. Keypad codes are not to be shared. Contact us Monday - Friday 8 am - 4 pm with questions about your code. Library staff at service desks do not have access to this information.

All users must follow the library code of conduct.

Failure to abide by the terms of use may result in forfeiture of the privilege to use a long-term study room.
