What is Document Delivery?

A library service that provides delivery of our materials.

  • Articles, book chapters and books are delivered for all current UA-affiliated customers.
  • Articles and book chapters can be delivered to customers not affiliated with the University of Arizona.

Document Delivery Fees

Are you a faculty member, staff or student and you live within 30 miles of the University?

  • Articles and book chapters delivered to your email: free of charge!

Are you a faculty member, staff or student and you live more than 30 miles from the University?

  • Articles and book chapters delivered to your email: free of charge!
  • Books delivered to your address: free of charge! Be sure to enter you address as your preferred delivery location.

Not affiliated with the University?

  • Articles and book chapters delivered  to your email: $3.00 setup fee (per document)  and $0.25 per page
  • Articles and book chapters mailed to your address: $3.00 setup fee (per document) and $0.25 per page, plus postage
  • Sorry, but book loans are not available to customers not affiliated with the University of Arizona.

  • Theses and Dissertations (current UA-affiliated customers only)
  • Microforms (case by case basis). Please contact us for more information. (distance users only)
  • Book Chapters
  • Reports
  • Maps (copies only)
  • Reference material (copies only)

We cannot provide the following types of material:

  • Special Collections items (photocopies of select material MAY be possible)
  • Media (Videos, DVD, Laserdiscs, etc.) Note: If you are a faculty member and need a media item for instructional use, please contact us.
  • Music Closed Stacks

Eligible Customers

All University of Arizona faculty, staff, graduate students, undergraduate students and visiting scholars with a valid NetID can request material through Document Delivery.

Those not affiliated with the University of Arizona are currently only eligible for the Document Delivery article and book chapter service.

Average time to fill a request

Articles will be delivered electronically within 48 hours of the initial request.

Books will be shipped to the patron's address via Federal Express and should arrive within 3 to 4 days.

How long can items be used?

Initial lending periods for books are the same as books checked out in person at the UA Library. View borrowing privileges.

Articles remain available for 3 weeks through your interlibrary loan account. 

Can you ship materials outside the United States?

We can ship library books to faculty, students and staff who currently reside outside of the United States. International delivery takes 2-3 weeks. We will cover the cost of shipping when sending materials, but you will be responsible for return shipping via air service (Airmail, DHL).
