Research Question: Can we meet the dietary protein needs of the nation’s population without concentrated animal feed operations (CAFOs)?

Or

What are the pros & cons of concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs)?

This topic will explore the different arguments for and against concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) in food production. You will explore the different viewpoints of the food industry, farmers, health experts, and the general public. You will be required to read many different types of information sources including articles found in both popular websites and scholarly sources.

Step 1: Locate and read two background articles 

Access and read the following Wikipedia article:

Intensive animal farming. (2014). In Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia.

Access the following CQ Researcher article by following the path provided:

"Factory Farms"

  • UA Library Homepage> Search & Find > Articles & Databases
  • Find Databases by TITLE > C
  • Scroll down the page and click the link CQ Researcher Plus Archive
  • In the search box, type "factory farms" and then click Search.
  • Click on the title: "Factory Farms" (1/2007)
  • Read the article.

Step 2: Analyze Articles:
