Students - How to use Course Reserves

How do I access Eres?

Access to course reserves is available from http://eres.library.arizona.edu.  Both "traditional" (print) and electronic reserves can be found in the system.

How can I view the articles on Electronic Reserves?

Documents placed on Electronic Reserves are in PDF format and need to be viewed with Adobe Acrobat Reader. See How do I obtain Adobe Acrobat to view/print the articles on Electronic Reserves below for information on how to download and install Adobe Acrobat.

If Adobe Acrobat Reader is installed correctly on the computer you are using, the documents will be displayed within your web browser. You can use the print function in Acrobat Reader to print out your electronic reserves document.

The time it takes to print your document will depend on your Internet connection, the browser you are using, and the amount of memory installed on your printer. Please see Systems Requirements for more information.

Using HELP in Eres

Help is available as a link in the upper right-hand corner of any page in the system.  Help covers a variety of subjects in how to use Eres in Chapter format, for easy finding.  It also contains some Flash files to aid in using the system.

How do I obtain Adobe Acrobat to view/print material on Electronic Reserves?

All of the documents/articles on Electronic Reserves were created in Adobe PDF format. We suggest using Adobe Acrobat Reader version 4.0 or better to view and print these files. However, we strongly recommend downloading and installing the latest version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer. Adobe offers this software for free.

The system requirements for Adobe Acrobat Reader can be reviewed at:

How can I listen to the audio files on Audio Reserves?

The majority of the files on Audio Reserves were created in MP3 format. In order to listen to these files, we suggest using Real Player version 5.0 or better. We strongly recommend downloading and installing the latest version, which is called the Real One Player. Click on the link below and then click on Download the Free RealOne Player link at the lower right hand corner to begin the download.

To download RealOne, go to http://www.real.com/realoneplayer.html or click on the button below.

Download Realplayer

To review the systems requirements for Real Player/RealOne, go to http://www.real.com or see System Requirements below.

If your system cannot handle the latest version, go to http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html to download an older version of Real Player.

Macintosh Users: RealOne Player is the only version of the Real Player software that works on Macintosh OSX. To download the RealOne Player for Macintosh, click here. For users with older versions of the Macintosh OS, you must use the Real Player software. To download older version of Real Player, click here.

PLEASE NOTE: Instructors may have other Audio Reserves files in different formats that Real Player RealOne Player cannot play. In most of these cases, depending on your PC configuration, your operating system will associate the appropriate application to play the file. Please see System Requirements below for more information.
