Students - About Course Reserves

What is Electronic Reserves?

Electronic Reserves is a system that provides access to course material (articles, audio files, graphics, etc.) via the Web. In the past, these materials were accessed in paper format in the Reserves area of the library. Using digitization technology, the library made these course-materials available in various electronic forms which can be accessed via a compatible web browser (see below for System Requirements).

Who do I contact if I do not know the password to access materials for my course?

Your course instructor is responsible for giving you the password to access materials for your course.

How long does it take for reserve material to become available electronically?

If a reading you need is unavailable (citation only), please contact your instructor.

Who has access to material on Electronic Reserves?

All course material is password-protected. The course instructor provides the password and only those affiliated with course will have access to materials posted for the course. Currently, this is limited to students enrolled in the course in question.

Is all course material delivered electronically?

No, due to copyright restrictions and, in some cases, instructor preference, not all reserves material is available online. The library still provides access to traditional reserves at all circulation desk locations. Traditional reserves include books, videos, CD-ROMs, and other course-related materials.

Who do I contact if I am having problems accessing electronic reserves?

If you are experiencing problems accessing or using Electronic Reserves, please contact us at or call us at (520) 621-2348.
