Information recorded includes rancher's name, description and drawing of earmark and brand, date recorded, and name and title of person recording. .10

San Juan de la Boquillas AZ 232 Documents relating to San Juan de la Boquillas y Nogales land grant, 1833-1901 (bulk 1879-1899 Typescript and printed materials, chiefly deeds of sale 1879-1899, relating to the San Juan de la Boquillas y Nogales land grant. Land originally granted to Captain Ygnacio Elias Gonzales and Juan Nepomucino Felix. Included are documents filed with Court of Private Land Claims by William R. Hearst and Phoebe A. Hearst concerning rights to this land in 1891. .30
San Juan de la Cruz Hacienda MS 86

Records of the San Juan de la Cruz Hacienda (Mexico), 1649-1805. 

Sixteen manuscripts, ranging in date from 1649-1805, that contain legal proceedings, receipts, deeds and business records relating to this hacienda and flour mill, located in the Jurisdiction of the Valle de San Bartolomé, Chihuahua, Mexico. The original 1666 building permit for the chapel is present; issued by the Bishop of Durango, it was renewed from 1678 to 1775. Other late seventeeth century items include receipts and statements of debts relating to Captain Juan Gutiérrez, Juana Gutiérrez, and Second Lieutenant Juan Ponce de León. Among the eighteenth century records are a levy for pious work, title costs for a cattle and horse pasture, an inventory, and sale records for the hacienda with Don Augustin de Soto named as the owner. .10

Includes letters relating to the appointment of Lewis Wolfley as Territorial Governor of Arizona; financial estate papers of the Fulford family of Maryland; and legal materials relating to challenges to the San Rafael de la Zanja land grant, 1885-1895; lists of stockholders; and livestock branding and pedigree records. Correspondents include Colin and Brewster Cameron, Alexander Fulford, and other members of the company. 1.25

Roskruge; a typescript record book of correspondence and testimony, 1880-1885; survey and map of mines in the area, a copy of by-laws of the San Rafael Cattle Company; and a list of mines on the ranch including mining towns of Harshaw, Mowry, Washington Camp, and La Naria. .40

The one volume contains both a German-Tarahumara dictionary, and a Tarahumara-German dictionary. Steffel annotated some of the entries. The end section contains general phrases that he says are derived in format from those of Herr Bacmeister, St. Petersburg, 1773; but that he has altered to consist of Latin, German, and Tarahumaran equivalents. .10

Biographical information, subject files, reports, and printed materials relating chiefly to his career with the Cananea Consolidated Copper Company in Sonora, Mexico, and as a consultant with Pincock, Allen, & Holt of Tucson, Arizona. The Cananea Reports contain documents on particular phases of the operation. Included in the files are correspondence, memoranda, research notes, and blueprints. Field Trip reports written by Stern and other engineers detail visits or studies of related mining ventures, mainly in Arizona. Supplementary Printed Materials contains brochures, equipment catalogs, and similar information on a wide variety of mining topics. 1.75

Correspondence between members of the Calvin Stevens family, chiefly sons Albion, 1862-1863, George, 1862-1863, and Herman, while serving in the Civil War. Later correspondence from Herman relates mining and railroad activities in California, the Northwest, Arizona and New Mexico. .40

The letter recounts his 1880 arrival in the Territory of New Mexico and his first meeting with Sheriff Whitehill. It also relates their encounter with Victorio's band of Apaches on Copper Creek, northwest of Silver City, and their subsequent rescue by the 6th Cavalry regiment under Captain Madden, and the 9th regiment under Colonel Hatch. .10
